Building Competitive Advantage Through Sport Analytics & Data Intelligence

Sports Analytics is the next big thing in the sports industry, as it is being used in many areas of the business, including player recruitment, injury predictions, ticket prices, matchday experience, and fan engagement.

Keeping the utility of sports analytics in mind, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai and Deakin University, Australia put up a webinar on ‘Building Competitive Advantage through Sports Analytics and Data Intelligence’ on 13th September, 2021. The fireside chat featured ace cricketer and former captain and coach of the Indian national team, Anil Kumble and Former CEO Sports, RIL & COO, IPL - Mr. Sundar Raman. The webinar aimed at discussing the role of sports analytics in various functions of the industry and how education institutes can enhance growth in sports analytics and management.

Four aspects of sports analytics were presented, including marketing and consumer applications, player & game analysis, recruitment applications and health and injury prevention applications, along with organizational capacity building. Also discussed was the way organizations are restructuring analytics functions, as well as the role of education institutes in sports analytics.
