Captain Abhimanyu Singh, Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Haryana – Chief Guest
Captain Abhimanyu Singh is a politician, decorated Indian Army soldier, award-winning newspaper editor, entrepreneur, educationist and philanthropist. He is currently a cabinet minister in the Govt. of Haryana leading multiple key departments.
Captain Abhimanyu started his career serving in the Indian Army for six years where he was awarded with the Special Services Medal. He was then selected for the Civil Services of India (ICS) but chose not to join in favour of philanthropic and social service work.
Before entering politics, Singh was a successful self-made entrepreneur as the founder and director of several organizations in coal mining, power generation, transport, finance, education and media. Among the organizations that he started is Hari Bhoomi, a Hindi-language newspaper, of which he remains editor-in-chief. As an educationist and philantrophist, he has supported many schools and colleges through his family foundation. He has also served of D.A.V. College Managing Committee which runs more than 800 schools, 75 colleges and a university across the world.
Currently he serves as a cabinet minister in Govt. of Haryana handling the maximum number of portfolios after the chief minister including key departments of Finance, Economic and Statistical Analysis, Revenue and Disaster Management, Excise & Taxation, Institutional Finance & Credit Control, Law & Legislative, Land Records & Consolidation and Rehabilitation.
Prior to becoming a Minister, Captain Abhimanyu has held several prominent BJP party positions including as National Spokesperson, National General Secretary and co-in-charge of the state of Uttar Pradesh campaign during the Indian General Election, 2014.
Mr. Sumant Sinha, Chairman and Managing Director, Renew Power – Guest of Honor
Mr Sumant Sinha is the Chairman and Managing Director of ReNew Power, India's largest renewable Independent Power Producer. He holds a B. Tech from IIT, Delhi, a post-graduate diploma in management from the IIM, Calcutta and a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Columbia University.
After a decade-long career in investment banking in the US and UK, Mr. Sinha returned to India in 2002 and became the Chief Financial Officer of Aditya Birla Group. Later, he went on to become the Chief Operations Officer of Suzlon Energy. In 2011, he founded ReNew Power, an independent renewable power producer headquartered in Gurgaon. With Mr. Sinha at the position of Chairman and CEO, ReNew Power has emerged as the largest renewable energy independent power producer in India today with a portfolio of over 5800 MW spanning both wind and solar.
Mr. Sinha has held the office of Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Northern Region and has previously been the Chairman of CII’s Renewable Energy Committee as well as CII’s Solar Task Force. He is also on the Advisory Board of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He has recently been appointed to the Board of Governors of the IIM, Calcutta and the IIM, Sirmaur.
