Foundation Day and Alumni Meet

On the 2nd of March 2021, Great Lakes Institute of Management Gurgaon celebrated its Foundation Day Ceremony and Annual Alumni Meet. This year has changed the way how we celebrate and this event was one such celebration; a melange of online and offline interactions.

Dr. Debasis Sanyal, Director of Great Lakes Gurgaon, led the event by lighting the lamp with other faculty members, followed by a welcome address. The stage was then taken over by the Vice-Chairman and CEO of Great Lakes Institute of Management, Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju. His jovial presence lit up the celebration. He addressed the attendees and spoke about the significance of the entrepreneurial mindset.

The chief guest of the evening, Mr. Shashank Dubey delivered the keynote address. Mr. Dubey is the co-founder and head of Analytics at Tredence. He is a graduate of the Indian School of Business. He has more than 13 years of research and consulting experience. In his keynote address, Mr. Dubey spoke of the four lessons of life. Firstly, to let go of inhibitions or the metaphorical life-jacket that hampers one’s risk-taking capabilities. Secondly, to pick the right ice-cream flavour – not to follow monetary gains but to follow one’s heart, one’s passion. Next, he emphasised on practicing one particular skill as much as possible that it becomes second nature. The fourth lesson was that it is important to live a full life and to take all possible chances to reach one’s potential goals.

The real pillars that have held up the institute in this place of prestige even during a time of crisis needed to be recognised and that’s exactly what was up next. After a motivating and scintillating address, the employee recognition awards followed. The students were also felicitated with special mentions for those who excelled in their internships and live projects, and in various inter-business school competitions around the country.

The Alumni are the strength of any institution and they need to be cherished. Alumni from the Pioneers batch were invited to interact with the students and alumni. Nidhi Gola, Ajith Basil and Jacob Alexander addressed everyone, and shared their memories and their journeys after graduating as Great Lakers.

To brighten up the rest of the evening following the formal celebrations, the three batches – Apaches, Olympians and Warriors – had various cultural performances lined up to keep the audience entertained. The Stringcarnation band filled the audience with surreal energy with their enchanting musical performance.
