Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, celebrated its 10th Foundation day, and Annual Alumni Meet, on 29th February and 1st March, 2020. The campus witnessed a surge in energy as the students, alumni, faculty and staff of Great Lakes Gurgaon came together to witness and celebrate this milestone together. The event recorded participation from over 150 alumni, who came back to their Alma Mater to relive, reconnect and refresh. The two day event had a power packed schedule for the Alumni, Students, Staff and Faculty.
The event commenced with the welcoming of the alumni for a luncheon with the founding members and faculty. This was followed by a Masterclass on leadership by Dr. Sugato Palit, CHRO, Varun Beverages, followed by an open mic session for the alumni to talk about their Great Lakes journey, life after graduation, key learnings and so on.
The formal events commenced in the evening with the cutting of the ceremonial cake. Dr. Debashis Sanyal, Director of Great Lakes Gurgaon introduced himself to the Alumni and welcomed Mr. Sandeep Kataria, CEO and Director, Bata India Ltd as the chief guest for the event. Mr. Sandeep Kataria addressed the alumni and students, sharing his knowledge and experience on the changing consumer demands and expectation in different domains of the market. Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju, Founder and CEO of Great Learning and Vice Chairman of Great Lakes Institute of Management, then took over, describing the decade long journey of the institute, the struggle involved to nourish it and bring it to the heights it has attained today, the culture and values it imbibes, and its vision for the future. The institute’s pilot program was PGPM Energy, conceptualized by Mr. Mohan Lakahamraju and Dr. BSK Naidu, industry advisor for the program. For them, it was nothing short of a rollercoaster with unpredictable outcomes. The stage was then taken over by the Mr. Gautam Lakhamraju, CMO of Great Lakes Institute of Management, who described his perspective of the Great Lakes’ journey and sustainability.
The event then continued with the award ceremony wherein the alumni were awarded for various achievements in the field of Entrepreneurship, Karma Yoga, Fastest Growth, National/International Recognition, Most-Connected Alumni, and Alumni of the Decade.
The event concluded for the evening a DJ performance for everyone to dance and unwind. This was then followed by dinner, conversations, nostalgia and reminiscence.
At the break of the dawn on 1st March, 2020 while the stage was being set, Prof. S K Palhan, Founding Director Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, conducted his customary team building activities for the alumni, embedding the values of team work and self-effectiveness. These activities were followed by outdoor games such as Cricket, Volleyball, etc. The stage was now ready to be set on fire with a breathtaking performance by the “Tauru Band”, with a special guest performance by Dr. Bappaditya Mukhopadhyay. A number of cultural performances ensued, including dance and classical music, followed by the customary alumni photoshoot.
The post lunch session was reserved for the Alumni, Students, Faculty and Staff to sit back and have a booster dose of laughter. Stand-Up Comedian Mr. Gaurav Gupta was invited on campus to keep the audience laughing for an hour.
The entire event proved to be an enormous success as the alumni went back and posted pictures and videos from the event on their social media profiles, and sent fond messages to the faculty filled with gratitude. The credit for this success goes to everyone, right from the students who co-operated for sharing their hostel rooms and maintained the aura of the college, performers who created an entertaining and energizing ambience, the Alumni Committee who organized the event, BPR Team for the marketing campaigns and live social media coverage, faculty members for their support and arrangements, and ultimately the Alumni for traveling all the way and gracing the event with their presence.
