Being a student-managed and student-run institute, all key functions of the institute are ably supported by committed student bodies – be it admissions, placements, web management or branding. Below is the list of all committees and clubs

Committee Snapshot

The placement committee supports student placements at Great Lakes. Working alongside Corporate & Career Services, led by Dr. Balaji, this committee ensures that students obtain their ideal employment and that corporations discover the best talent. Students in the placement committee assist their batchmates with resume building, interview preparation, and case study discussions, in addition to conducting corporate events. Each student is allocated a “buddy” who assists them with questions about resume screening and interviews. PlaceCom facilitates interview processes and acts as a liaison between students and corporates.

Mission

The years a student spends in college is crucial to his overall development. The events committee provides a perfect platform to learn, respect,understand and exchange different cultures. The aim of the committee is to create an environment that encourages overall education and helpscreate multi-talented individuals. through a variety of events - management related and cultural.

Goals

  • The Events Committee plays a very important role in the lives of the students with regards to exposing them to non-academic activities,promoting creativity, talent, cooperation, team work and healthy competition.
  • The committee keeps a record of all activities and events for the AY and ensures that students participate in the same.
  • The committee plans and organizes cultural events on campus with the help of the students.
  • The committee motivates students to practice and participate in events organized by other departments and committees in turn helping torealise new talent.

Branding & Admission Committee

Mission

Empower students to engage in corporate and academic competitions, fostering structured thinking, problem-solving, dataanalysis, and impactful presentations to industry leaders.

Goals

  • 1Identify the corporate and academic competitions, with a focus on corporate competitions, that increase exposure to the students and also placethe GL students on the map
  • Introduce comps during the PGPM and PGDM orientation, introduce them to comp portals, list of comps to focus

Committee Snapshot

The competitions committee identifies a list of reputed corporate competitions, where the students can showcase their technical and management skills. The committee will release the competition calendar, share the competition calls, and send reminders to enroll. The committee also plans to hold domain-wise workshops, with alumni, academic mentors, and industry mentors, to enable students to prepare for the upcoming competitions.

Will work along with other clubs/SIGs, CCS, and BPR. With SIGs: Identifying mentors from industry/ alumni who evaluate the student's presentations before Marquee competitions and help with the preparation.

The committee also compiles a monthly/quarterly leader board, with attractive prize money to be won by the toppers of the leader board (to inculcate competitive spirit).

Competition Committee

Mission

To build and strengthen enduring relationships with Great Lakes' alumni network of 13500+ alumni from full-time and executive programs whilecreating mentoring opportunities for current students and increasing opportunities for engagement with alumni.

Goals

  • To facilitate activities of the Office of Alumni Relations and engage with alumni at various levels
  • To arrange interactions of alumni with the current students and explore opportunities for mentoring and other enabling associations
  • To curate the 'Annual Alumni Meet' and ‘Chapter Meets’ across 18 cities
  • To execute the Alumni Chapter elections for the period of two years
  • To initiate fundraising activities with the alumni network

Committee Snapshot

AlCom contributes to the promotion of alumni relations and involvement at Great Lakes. It hosts alumni reunions and chapter meets across major cities in India, and abroad. The Great Lakes alumni network is dispersed throughout 33 countries across the world, and AlCom ensures that alumni are abreast with the advances and achievements of the institute. There is also an elected body, known as, GLAA - The Great Lakes Alumni Association which assists students in reaching out to the large network of 13000+ alums and conducting meets, guest lectures, and more.

Alumni Committee

Mission

To initiate and conduct all student sports activities in consultation with the Administration and Program Offices ensuring a spirit offair and vigorous competition and display of competitive spirit among supporting groups.

SPORTSCOM is the sole mover and shaker behind all student sports activities for both PGPM and PGDM on campus. Sportscom schedules and conducts throughout-the-year events for outdoor sports, indoor sports, and e-sports depending upon the academic calendar and weather patterns. Events are held for both inter and intra-program competitions and the finale at the end of the academic year is the now-famous Great Lakes Premier League and the Great Lakes Football League tournaments

Mission

DSLC is not about organizing events. It is about ideas that build the Great Lakes brand for posterity. It is about creating a lastingthe footprint for the entire community that will stand the test of time.

Committee Snapshot

DSLC heads many of the community-building and strengthening activities on campus. It also leads different campaigns, be it for entertainment, or a cause. The members also take inputs from the student community and work on ideas that would boost the brand equity of the Institution among the current students, alumni, prospective students, and recruiters. The DSLC is a group of students chosen from both the PGPM and PGDM programs that act as the custodians of the Great Lakes brand. It aims to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion among the entire student community through a variety of initiatives. By design, DSLC focuses on ideas that can have a long-term impact rather than one-off events. Highly entrepreneurial in nature, the DSLC members work closely with the Dean.

Committee Snapshot

As a component of the student council, SAC serves as a liaison between the program administration and the students. The SAC addresses student questions, concerns, and complaints and serves as the student's voice to the program offices. The SAC attends regular meetings with the program director and managers to relay all batch-related questions and concerns. SAC must be knowledgeable of current events to effectively guide the peer and to contact authorities in the event of any misdemeanors.

SLC is elected to address student concerns regarding their hostel life and Great Lakes' stay. They serve as a link between the program office, administration, and students. The SLC attends monthly meetings with the college administration, and the program director conveys the concerns of the cohort. It takes proactive measures to comprehend and resolve any non- academic issues, such as the hours of operation of the Resource Centre and Hostel Amenities, by listening to all of the problems that GLIM students face.

The Entrepreneurship Club of Great Lakes transforms ideas into reality. Join us to generate ideas, build teams, learn aboutfundraising, and more. Our vision is to establish the institution as the premier hub for entrepreneurial and startup talent.

Goals

  • To foster an 'Entrepreneurial Mindset' among students.
  • To offer resources and learning experiences for students aiming to start their own ventures, or possibly join startups or VC firms.
  • To enable interaction with seasoned entrepreneurs, industry experts, and venture capitalists for insight and inspiration.

Finance Club

Mission

To keep students updated on recent developments in marketing by bringing together some of the most competent and bright minds who are keento delve into the rapidly changing realm of marketing and promote peer learning and exchange of ideas on various marketing topics.

Goals

  • Mélange Musings -Publishing quarterly newsletter Mélange Musings to inform about contemporary topics in the marketing domain,news snippets about various brands/Trivia. Students get a chance to write articles of their interest that can be posted in the newsletter.
  • Organize Brand Wars- To enable students to come out with creative ideas around a brand to safeguard it from a closely rival brand.
  • Creating an Advertising Campaign- Ad-Mad requires students to use their imagination to create advertising campaigns using a varietyof taglines, slogans, logos, and storytelling techniques.
  • Clear Pitch- Students market their products, negotiate, and close agreements to compete in a sales pitch competition. The objective isto teach students how to negotiate and interact effectively in sales.
  • Organize Brand charades: To enable students to become aware of various global and national brands.
  • Organize Mark-O-Wiz- A quiz competition organized to test students' know-how of various brands and their marketing strategies
  • Coordinate the annual (North American Society for Marketing Education in India)The NASMEI conference organized in the month ofDecember attracts globally renowned scholars in the Marketing area. Students get an opportunity to present their research ideas andlearn about some of the interesting research work undertaken in the Marketing academia.

We publish quarterly newsletters called Melange Musings to keep the student community informed on the latest events in the world of marketing. The Operations Club’s mission is to equip students with a comprehensive, global perspective on operations and career opportunities byorganizing case competitions, networking events, speaker sessions, and informative workshops.

The committee's core objective is to provide students the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in both the business and culturaldomains. We will focus on curating array of events that cater to academic and extra curricular aspects of student’s life.

L’Attitude is Great Lakes Chennai’s annual cultural and management festival and among South India’s biggest college fests. Students manage all the end-to-end processes from conceiving the theme for the event, promotion, sponsorships, logistics, curating key-note speakers and judges for the competitions, conducting pre- events, cultural nights, and, the main event. The main event revolves around three pillars: Symphony - The Cultural Wing, Synergy - The Business Wing, and Spotlight - The Grand Showcase
