Great Lakers have won awards and accolades at several national and international competitions. The teams from Great Lakes have come ahead of business schools like IIM A, IIM B, ISB, IIM C, IIM L, IIM K, etc in many reputed competitions. Below is the detailed list of student achievements.

Papers based on Summer Project abstracted in Conference Proceedings of BIT’s 5th New Energy Forum-2015 (NEF-2015) in Xi’an, China.
Papers titled “Technology Selection for Last Mile Communication Connectivity in Smart Grids” based on Great Laker Sindhu Sharma's Summer Project and “Solar Rooftops in India - Feasibility, Policies and Promotion for Achieving 40,000 MW by 2022” based on Shashwat Gawshinde’s Summer Project were abstracted in Conference Proceedings of BIT’s 5th New Energy Forum-2015 (NEF-2015) held as a part of Euro-Asia Economic Forum-2015 (p.355 & p. 354) September 24-26, 2015 in Xi’an, China. Papers has been published in International Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology, Vol. 3, Issue 5. Sep- Oct’ 2015 and Volume 2, Issue 6, Nov-Dec’2015 respectively.

1st Position in PLUTUS'15, Flag-ship event of Finance Club, as part of Agon organized by IIM Ranchi
Great Lakers Varun Bagga, Rakesh Tahilramani and Nishant Mehta of PGPM Class of 2016 won 1st position in PLUTUS’15.

2nd Position in MARCASE'15, Flag-ship event of Marketing, as part of Agon organized by IIM Ranchi
Great Lakers Siddhartha Dhar, Abhinav Prakash and Nivedita Mitra of PGPM Class of 2016 won 2nd position in MARCASE’15. The competition had a live case challenge provided by Polaris for INDIAN SCOUT and IMRG(Indian Motorcycle Riders Group). The event was judged by Mr. Pankaj Dubey, MD Polaris Industries Ltd.

3rd Prize in article writing competition on the topic "The next big thing in India" organized by IIM Shillong
Great Laker Tuhin Choudhury’s article on "The Transition of Power sector in India" won 3rd prize in the article writing competition of IIM Shillong.

2nd Prize in a marketing case study competition organized by IIFT Kolkata
Great Laker Tuhin Choudhury of PGPM Energy Class of 2016 won 2nd prize in ‘Akshay Patra Foundation’ organized by IIFT Kolkata.

Deloitte Maverick North Zone Finalists 2015
Great Lakers Vignesh Sampath, Sivaramakrishnan Venkataramanan, and Senthilnathan K of PGPM Class of 2016 made it to the zonal finals of Deloitte Maverick 2015

Case titled 'Should Cairn India Venture into Offshore Drilling?' published at Richard Ivey

Great Laker Ajay and Kartikeyun's case developed under the guidance of professor of Marketing Management has been accepted for publishing by Richard Ivey. The process of final edition will complete in another 60 days post which case will appear in the publication. 

Paper on Interchangeability of Energy Certificates published in Energy Next magazine

Great Laker Sarita Nisha's paper on 'Interchangeability of Energy Certificates' got published in the Energy Next magazine's March 2014 issue. The paper analyzes the extent of interchangeability possible among the financial products of 3-carbon saving mechanisms prevalent in India. Currently, all the three mechanisms namely renewable energy certificates (RECs), energy savings certificates (ESCerts) and certified emission reductions (CER) are under a state of dilemma regarding their interchangeability. Won 5th position among 182 teams in Meraki (B-Plan Competition)
Great Lakers Magdalene Lycia & Sai Swaroop secured 5th position in the international B-Plan competiiton hosted at FIIB, Delhi.

Deloitte Maverick North Zone Finalists 2014
Great Lakers Sai Swaroop, Magdalene Lycia and Ashok Reddy of PGPM Energy Class of 2015​​ made it to the zonal final of Deloitte Maverick 2014

Selected to attend four week course at UN Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan
Great Laker Ankit Dubey, Student of PGPM Energy Class of 2014, secured a position to attend a four week course on Renewable Energy at the UN Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. This credit course by United Nations University will be conducted from 2 April to 25 April, 2014. This short course will compliment Ankit's studies at Great Lakes and would help him excel in the Energy sector.

2nd Prize in The OYSTER B-Plan Competition

Great Lakers Rithvik R Reddy, Ranjith Ramdas and Yogesh Babu secured Runners Up position in The OYSTER B-Plan Competition organised by Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Great Lakes. 3 top B-Plans were selected from 45+ total entries. All 3 Winning teams will directly go to the 2nd round of AUDACIA'14, an International B-plan Competition organised by Orchid Pharma Centre for Excellence in Management of Technology, Innovation and Technopreneurship (OPCET) at Great Lakes. 

3rd Prize in Global Indian Entrepreneur 2014
Great Laker P. Prasann secured 3rd prize in Global Indian Entrepreneur held at Mumbai. Of the 60 participants, 8 were chosen to present in the finals.

Deloitte Maverick North Zone Finalists 2013
Great Lakers Vinoth Kumar G, Dinesh Kumar SRB, and Jayaraman G of PGPM Energy Class of 2014 made it to the Zonal Final of Delotte Maverick 2013.

Selected among Top 15 INFOCOM Future Leaders
Great Laker Danish Jafri and Vishal Gajjar were selected among Top 15 Future Leaders by INFOCOM Future Leadership Awards (IFLA 2013). IFLA under the aegis of the main event, INFOCOM - is an endeavour to identify & groom the young global leaders of the future. It is the India's most prestigious open paper writing competition for management students across the globe. Papers are invited from first and final year students from select B Schools across the world on the theme of INFOCOM where fifteen and six best entries are selected by a distinguished panel of jury. These award winning students are felicitated at at a special IFLA ceremony at INFOCOM Calcutta. The award comprises of a trophy and a certificate to each winner along with exciting cash prizes. The top 15 papers would also be published in the form of the “IFLA 2013 Compendium”, a commemorative book which will be released during INFOCOM 2013 in Calcutta. This book will also contain details of the six winners and the distinguished Jury members.

Paper accepted for International Conference on Sustainable Development 2013 organized by OIDA, CANADA
Great Lakers' (Vishal Gajjar & Kalpesh Gawali) paper on 'Renewable Energy Grid Integration with Distributed Generation' got accepted for OIDA International Journal of Sustainable Development (ISSN 1923-6654) by Ontario International Development Agency, CANADA. International Conference on Sustainable Development 2013 will be held in Chandigarh, India on 4-5 December, 2013. In total, 109 papers are selected from all over the world.

Selected for Climate Reality Leadership Corps, a unique 3 day training program with former US Vice President and Nobel Laureate Mr. Al Gore in Istanbul, Turkey
Great Laker Kalpesh Gawali got selected for Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training to be held in Istanbul, Turkey on 14 -16 June 2013 with Mr. Al Gore. Kalpesh is selected to be trained as a Climate Leader with 50% scholarship from a pool of more than one hundred applicants. This training cum conference is organized by Climate Reality Project, which deals with issues of Climate Crisis and Sustainability. Kalpesh will also be presenting a paper on 'Strategies to Promote Renewable Energy Generation in different countries' at the conference. This training program cum conference provides a great opportunity to interact with climate leaders and individual entrepreneurs from more than 60 countries.

Project selected by CII and Planning Commission for Innovation Showcase at Clean Energy Ministerial-4
Great Lakes, Gurgaon students' (Bhiraw and Poonam) project 'Solar Hydrogen Hybrid System' is selected by CII and Planning Commission of India for Innovation Showcase at Clean Energy Ministerial - 4, on 17-18 April, 2013. India will host CEM-4, where in energy ministers from 23 countries, including US Energy Secretary Steven Chu, will come together to review the progress of clean energy initiatives. Besides the ministerial meeting, the event will also host the Clean Energy Innovation Showcase, panel discussion on participation of woman in Clean Energy, Awards for the Super Efficient Appliances etc.

The first Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM1) was hosted by US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu in Washington, DC, in July 2010. The United Arab Emirates hosted the second Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM2) in Abu Dhabi in April 2011. The United Kingdom hosted the third Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM3) in London in April 2012.

1st prize at 'The One Side Challenge' organized by Brandwagon at IIFT Delhi
Great Lakes, Gurgaon team (Mehul Jindal and Deepesh Chatterjee) won 1st position in 'The One Side Challenge', a marketing competition organized by marketing club of IIFT Delhi. Participants were required to present their solution in only one slide. Participants were required to position a product (Chocolate) using 4P framework.

Best Recommendation prize at 'Amazing Champions of Energy' hosted by CAIRN India
Great Lakes, Gurgaon team (Kalpesh Gwali, Anuj Pundir and Danish Jafri) won best recommendation for 'Improving India's Energy Security' at 'Amazing Champions of Energy' event. Total 150 teams participated in the competition with 5 teams qualifying for final presentation at IIT Kharagpur.

Finalist for Paper Presentation at CURA'13 organized by NIT Warangal
Great Lakes, Gurgaon team (Partha Deb and Abhilasha Bhasin) were finalists in a Paper Presentation competition at CURA'13. Team presented a paper in the area of sustainable development, which was heavily appreciated by jury members. Tagging the project as unheard and ahead of time, jury members were very impressed with the thought process of young generation.

Due to academic commitments, team could not participate/ compete in finals.

Consolation Prize for two business plans at Green Business Conference hosted by Amity School of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development
Great Lakes, Gurgaon team (Kalpesh Gwali, Anuj Pundir and Danish Jafri) won consolation prize at Amity's annual Green Business Conference. Team presented two business plans in the area of Intelligent Energy Management in buildings and Micro Grids. Total 63 team participated from the country with 10 qualifying for final presentation.

Great Lakes, Gurgaon student Kalpesh Gwali's article titled 'Insight into Entreprenureship' was selected to be published in January'13 edition of SAMVAD, an online magazine by Welingkar Institute of Management Mumbai.

Winners of Wipro Earthian Contest 2012
Earthian, a landmark sustainability program for educational institutions across the world, invited institutes to to submit enteries on any enviornmental or social scenario that concerns them and provide solutions for same. Great Lakes, gurgaon team (Bhairaw, Poonam, Sarita and Nikhil) showcased its solar hydrogen hybrid system which offers a poolution free energy solution and won a place in the winners list. As a winner of this award, Great Lakes Gurgaon team received a cash prize of Rs. 150000, a certificate and a trophy for the institution. It will also lead to a continuous engagement of Wipro Technologies Ltd. with Great Lakes Gurgaon in the area of sustainability and education for next 3 years.

Finalists of MasterPlan, B Plan event of Confluence'12 hosted by IIM A
Great Lakes, Gurgaon team (Dinesh SRB, Vinoth KA, Gopinath S, MC Tani) were finalists in celebrated annual business plan competition of IIM Ahmedabad. Total 400 national and international teams participated in the event, out of which 15 were selected as finalists to present their B Plan to VCs at IIM A campus.

Winners of Youth Green Entrepreneurial Award'12 at 6th Renewable Energy India 2012 Expo (REI)
The 6th Renewable Energy EXPO 2012 in association with MNRE and Ministry of Power invited Indian youth to showcase innovative and scalable alternative energy projects to the international industry congregation present during the expo. Total 7 teams were selected to showcase and present their idea and product. Great lakes IEMR, Gurgaon's Team Enerture (Bhairaw, Poonam, Nikhil & Ateet) emerged as winner of "Youth Entrepreneurial Green Award 2012".
Enerture Team designed "Solar Hydrogen Hybrid System" –Akshay Urja, which will provide the society grid-independent energy, reducing carbon-dioxide emissions, offering a clean environmental solution with flexibility and economic advantage. This is complete Green System, which can cater to all the energy requirements using a Hybrid System for our homes. It provide electricity 24X7 for our entire house and also generated hydrogen from this system can be used as car fuel and cooking gas.

Winners OF INDIAFRICA Business Venture Competition
Ms. Poonam Kumari, Student of PGPME'13 at Great Lakes IEMR won the 1st prize of US$ 10000 at Indiafrica Business Venture Competition 2012, supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and promoted by INDIA Future of Change in collaboration with Lagos Business School, Nigeria and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. Final Round was held at Lagos Business School -Africa on September 25. Another student of Great Lakes IEMR, Mr. Bhairaw Kumar, also won 3rd prize of US$ 5000 at same competition. Both students are nominated and sponsored to attend the World Economic Forum at Davos next January by the Ministry of External Affairs, GoI.

Great Lakes IEMR start up Enerture Tech. won 1st prize at Conquest'12, BITS Pilani's annual start up challenge
Great Lakes IEMR student's start up Enerture Technology Pvt. Ltd. (Bhairaw, Poonam, Nikhil & Ateet) won 1st prize of Rs 1,50,000/- at Conquest 2012 organized by BITs-Pilani in association with NEN, SEEDFUND,The Hatch & DST. Conquest is BITS Pilani's annual start-up challenge and entrepreneurship conclave that brings together the most promising start-ups and connects them to investors who are willing to pay up to Rs. 40 million as angel investment or seed fund for top startups. Final round was held on 19th August at Shri Satya Sai International Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Total 10 finalists presented their B Plans out of 416 submissions.

1st prize at annual B plan competition of IIM Bangalore
PGPME'13 Students (Bhairaw, Poonam, Nikhil & Ateet) won 1st prize of cash prize Rs 40000/- at INGEN at Eximius'12 (flagship B Plan competition hosted by IIM B at Annual Entrepreneurship Summit) competing against teams from IIM B, IIM C, IIM L, IIM K, FMS & NITIE in finals. INGEN is the flagship B-plan contest of Eximius, the Entrepreneurship Summit at IIM Bangalore. It provides budding entrepreneurs like you a platform to showcase the ideas that could be the next big startup. Bhairaw Kumar and Poonam Kumari of PGPM (Energy) Class of 2013 have won the international business plan contest "Vishisht" organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, IIT Delhi. Bhairaw and Poonam's "Akhay Urja" project which clinched the first prize is an innovative approach of fusing solar panels with fuel cells to provide reliable and cost effective electrical energy. Apart from the prize money they will be eligible for mentorship and seed funding from the spon sor of Vishisht.

Winners of 5th Al Gore Sustainable Technology Venture Competition
Sandip Dalvi, Kailas Kale, Hitvallabh Shukla & Vijaya Kumar, candidates of PGPM (Energy) of Great Lakes IEMR won the first prize at the prestigious 5th Al Gore Sustainable Technology Venture Competition, India, organized by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi, India, and The Foundation for a Sustainable Future, San Francisco. The competition was a pan India inter-business school event and saw participation from the leading business schools like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, FMS, IIFT, etc. Great Lakes IEMR candidates bagged the top honours and were followed by teams from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore.
The team from Great Lakes IEMR presented a plan on "Setting up of Green Water Pumping System for Irrigation" were selected after presentations to the Jury comprising venture capitalists and industry executives. The winners were awarded prizes of Rs 100,000 and also received an opportunity to interact directly with top-tier venture capitalists and entrepreneurs who would mentor them to turn the winning business plans into reality.

Winners of Colloquia - Economics Case Study Competition
Balaji Hariharan & Kalyan Rakesh Killadi of PGPM (Energy) Class of 2012 won FIRST PRIZE in "Colloquia - Economics Case Study Competition" on the topic "Crude Oil Price Worldwide and its Inflation in India", conducted by IIT Bhubaneswar at Wissenaire'12 held during January 20th to 22nd, 2012. Wissenaire - Colloquia competition is a platform to convey ideas through case study presentation. Balaji and Kalyan presented on the topic "Crude oil price worldwide and its effect on inflation in India" under Economics head and impressed the panel to bag the first prize.

Emerson Talent Quest: First, second and third prizes!!
Great Lakes IEMR, India's leading management Institution in the Energy sector, emerged as the clear winner of "Talent Quest", a prestigious intercollegiate competition organized by Emerson Process Management India. The competition was conducted among the Energy Management colleges across India with over 50 entries from institutions like Great Lakes IEMR, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT BHU) and Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (School of Petroleum Management). The finals of Talent Quest's grand competition witnessed a clean sweep by the students of Great Lakes IEMR, Mr. Paritosh Thakur (first), Mr. Chittaranjan Dash (second) and Ms. Nidhi Gola (third).

Social Entrepreneurship Competition at TERI University
Bhairaw Kumar and Poonam Kumari of PGPM (Energy) Class of 2013 have won the Social Entrepreneurship Competition (B-Plan) at SYNOD'12 organized by TERI University on February 17th 2012. Bhairaw and Poonam came up with an innovative approach of fusing solar panels with fuel cells to provide reliable and cost effective electrical energy. The event finalists included teams from FMS, Delhi, SRCC, Welingkar, etc. Apart from the cash prize cash prize of Rs. 25,000, the team would receive mentorship from Indiapreneurship.

SPARK IB Quiz at Delhi School of Economics
Ajith N.S. and Kumara Rathnam K.R. of PGPM (Energy) Class of 2013 won the second prize in the final round of the highly competitive SPARK IB QUIZ organised by Delhi School of Economics. Among 543 teams which participated from all over the country, 10 teams were shortlisted for the final round. The final round saw teams from premier institutions like IIMs, FMS, IMT and Great Lakes IEMR compete.
