Prof. Suresh Srinivasan has written an article titled "70 hour work week is not a great idea" published by The Hindu Business Line.
The article highlights that most of India currently has a 48-hour work-week. Any attempt to increase working hours will be met with resistance from unions. A number of studies show that, as the number of working hours increases, productivity drops. Post the pandemic, there has been a dramatic shift in employee mindset, the concept of work-life balance is emerging as a serious priority, both globally and in India.
