International Yoga day celebrated at Great Lakes
June 21, 2016 marked the second International Yoga day and Great Lakes arranged for a training session on basic asanas for its students and faculty. Taking part in this session, Great Lakers became a part of this worldwide movement. Yoga enthusiasts assembled inside the campus and practiced different postures of Yoga, while trying to understand the significance of each posture. Great Lakes faculty Mr. Nachiketas Nandakumar, a regular yoga practioner taught the participants new postures and explained the importance of each one.
Dr. Vaidy Jayaraman, Associate Dean, Great Lakes, participated in the session along with other faculty members and encouraged them in this activity. Celebrating the Yoga day goes in line with the Motto of Great Lakes “Global Mindset, Indian Roots”. The students opined that practicing yoga is a holistic approach to health and well-being and hoped this movement gets even more successful and more people adopt yoga as a means to stay fit and healthy.
