International Yoga day celebrated at Great Lakes
June 21st marked the First International Yoga day and the students at Great Lakes had organized a special Yoga session and became a part of this worldwide movement. On the early Sunday morning, the Yoga enthusiasts assembled at the Basket Ball Court in the campus and practiced different postures of Yoga, while trying to understand the significance of each posture. Student mentors and regular Yoga practioners helped the participants to learn these new postures.
Dr. Vaidy Jayaraman, Associate Dean, Great Lakes, participated in the session along with students and encouraged them in this activity. Celebrating the Yoga day goes in line with the Motto of Great Lakes “Global Mindset, Indian Roots”. The students opined that practicing yoga is a holistic approach to health and well-being and hoped this movement gets even more successful and more people adopt yoga as a means to stay fit and healthy.
