Great Lakes kick starts its 10 years celebrations at Bangalore
To mark the successful completion of a decade, Great Lakes has planned celebrations across five cities for its corporate guests, alumni, faculty and staff. The events are planned in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai. The celebrations started off in a grand style on August 28, 2014 at Taj Westend, Bangalore.
With esteemed guests from corporate, Alumni and faculty, the event started off with Dr. Bala V Balachandran, Founder & Dean, Great Lakes welcoming the gathering. The chief guests of the event included Mr. Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, Mindtree and Ms. Vinita Bali, former MD and CEO of Britannia Industries.
Talking at the event, Ms. Vinita Bali congratulated Great Lakes on this mile stone and added that Institutions such as these should impart Compassion and empathy to its students. “While technology makes us efficient, what makes us effective is that wonderful combination of knowing what is the right technology, right behaviour, and what is the right way of interacting with people”, she added.
Mr. Bagchi spoke on how great Institutions are made. “A building of an institution is not just about the physical infrastructure, you need intellectual and emotional infrastructure and that money can’t buy”, he said.
Faculty and select alumni were felicitated with awards for their outstanding contribution towards the institute. The event also saw the release of a coffee table book titled “Global Mindset, Indian Roots — Thought leadership and beyond”, released jointly by Mr. Bagchi and Ms. Bali. The book is a compilation of excerpts of speeches by eminent personalities who have visited Great Lakes in the last 10 years.
