Great Lakes hosted its first Supply Chain Conclave
Great Lakes hosted its maiden Supply Chain conclave at its campus on September 12, 2014. The conclave was organized in association with Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISCM). Speaking on the occasion, Great Lakes’ founder and Dean Dr. Bala V Balachandran said that the boom in the e-commerce segment has paved way for a number of opportunities which has brought intense changes in the supply chain business landscape.
The Supply Chain Conclave was organized to give the students of Great Lakes an opportunity to interact with and gain insights from eminent leaders in the area of supply chain segment. The theme of the conclave was “Transformative Themes in Supply Chain”.
Mr. R. Shankar, CEO, TVS Logistics Ltd, who was one of the chief guests of the event, said “Ten years from now the Supply chain industry will offer more options and give immense opportunity to grow. With changing roles and evolving markets, it is the right time to choose a career in this industry and make a difference.”
The conclave also saw two enriching and informative panel discussions participated by senior level managers from supply chain industry. The first discussion on the topic “Is Forecasting Dead” was moderated by Dr. Rakesh Singh, Visiting Professor - Supply Chain Strategy, Great Lakes. The panelists consisted of Mr. Shashank Raodeo, Head – SCM, Mahindra Automotives Ltd, Mr. Vasu Ramanujam, Sr. Director (India Ops), Entercoms Ltd, Mr. Vijay Wadhwani, Sr. GM Supply Chain, Relaxo Footwears ltd.
The second panel discussion on “Transforming Supply Chain” was represented by Mr. Kalpesh Pathak, EVP Supply Chain, Fiat India Pvt Ltd, Dr. Arunachalam, VP, Pro Connect Supply chain Solutions (a Subsidiary of Redington India Ltd), Mr. Harry Lagad, Sr. VP – Asia Pacific Region, Toll Logistics and moderated by Mr. V.S. Girish, Executive Director, ISCM.
