Clean India campaign by Great Lakes Karma Yoga team.
Karma Yoga, in its focus towards clean India campaign has taken a small step in building toilets for the poor and needy families in the adopted villages around it’s campus.
The team members of Great Lakes Karma Yoga (Leadership Experiential Program) have made first and important step in the process of providing sanitation to the people of Great Lakes adopted villages. As a part of this initiative, after analyzing different models suited to the houses with less space, the students engaged a company (WatSan) to design and build a toilet.
The KY students funded this project. They are still trying to bring in companies with CSR in total sanitation. The first toilet built with the efforts of KarmaYoga students was handed over to a house in Perumalcherry colony by Great Lakes Director Shri. V. Sankaran, on November 12, 2015. The beneficiary is Mr. Nagaraj, a daily laborer with three girl children ( N.Ranjini age-7 , N.Anusri age-5 and N.Lavanya age-2 ).
Karma Yoga team has planned to extensively promote the initiative in the coming months through crowd funding campaigns.
