Shankar R L
Dr. R.L.Shankar has done B.Tech from IIT Madras and MS in computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He has completed his PhD in Finance from EdHEC Singapore. Prior to joining Great Lakes, Dr. Shankar was heading the Centre for Advanced Financial Studies at IFMR. He was also the Program Director for the niche two-year Financial Engineering program offered by IFMR. He is also a visiting faculty at other leading Business Schools such as IIMs, NISM (SEBI’s initiative) etc.
Dr. Shankar is currently a Professor of Finance at Great Lakes. He offers the following courses: Options, Futures & Derivatives, Algorithmic Trading, Entrepreneurial Finance, Financial Risk Management, Financial Risk Analytics, and Business Analytics.
Shankar has rich experience in offering customized programs for working executives. He has designed and delivered programs for Bank of America, Standard Chartered Scope International (India and China), World Bank, ICICI Bank (Treasury), Reserve Bank of India, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited, Sundaram Fasteners etc.
Shankar’s research focuses on algoritmic trading, market microstructure, imperfections in derivatives markets and non-parametric risk measurement techniques. He recently won NYU Stern -NSE’s inaugral research grant for his joint work on “Impact of Algorithmic Trading on Indian Markets”.
