If you’re sitting at home with your friends or family and there’s nothing good on TV, then the two debates, you could bet your money, that is most likely to be discussed are either: Politics or Technology. The second topic is usually more of a QnA session rather than a debate. The reason being for this is – Technology changes and Disruption. In recent times, there has been a lot of talk on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and how these new developments are growing and at the same time disrupting industries across the globe. The question that arises here is how far along are we to seeing these new technology becoming a part of everyday life?

A couple of years ago, the buzz acronym was SMAC – Social Media, Mobility, Analytics and Cloud. Out of this, Analytics is discussed much amongst every Tech employee, tech entrepreneur and students. Be it LinkedIn or Facebook, when you scroll through the newsfeed, there’s either a video sharing the latest technology in action that leaves you amused or an Advertisement about a course one should be taking up to upgrade a skill set.

One of the latest, and upgraded version to advance in this space is – AIMLA, a combination of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Analytics. While all of us are aware of how Social and Digita media function, keeping in mind how disruptions such as the recent Facebook data breach are occurring at an unexpected hour, here are few things that highlight why it is about time to get relevant in AIMLA.

1) The start-up world is going AIMLA

According to Angelist, there are 4.465 companies in the AI industry alone around the globe. That is out of a total of about 36000 companies which means around 12%. Therefore it is safe to assume that AI is going to be a part of our lives sooner rather than later. Several analytics companies that only started a few years ago are already household names in the industry and are generating unheard of CAGR year on year.

2) Every Industry will have some form of AIMLA

It’s not just start-ups that are leading this technology revolution. Several companies are going mainstream and gung-ho into new technology. In fact, AI is so common, even the biggest online giant Google uses it, which you can see while performing a search on the latest IPL score or even election results online.

The chatbots in several customer service calls are AI based and several companies are now dedicating wings for developing AI based chatbots. Alexa is an amazing example of AI in the palm of our hands. So companies are already making great strides in AI and the space is actually getting quite crowded.

3) Disruption means opportunity

Given AIMLA is something that’s slowly swallowing up industries into its ever-growing belly what does this mean for us common folk who go to work every day and earn a living?

Well despite the initial job cuts we are seeing in several industries including IT services there is a bright shining light at the end of this very short tunnel.

Gartner predicts that by 2020 AI would have created more jobs than it has eliminated already. The report states that there will be several High skilled and management jobs in the field of AI in the future but will also create low skilled jobs.

In two years’ time, AI is going to need manpower to further its development and there is no reason to be a part of that trend. So, this means, it is time to adapt AIMLA now!
