Interactive session on Product Management
The most anticipated Corporate Guest Lecture session – ‘Paypal on Product Management’ by Team Corporate & Career Services (CCS) for the PGPM 2020 was held on 13th June 2019 at campus. Three esteemed speakers from Paypal – Mr. Pradeep (Head of Strategy initiatives), Mr. Ram (Product Manager) and Ms. Savitha Ajith Raj (Sr. Product Manager, also alumna of Great Lakes) addressed the students and threw light on the essentials about PayPal as an organization, the nature of product management roles and skills set required. They also gave a brief introduction to the outliner of the Product Management Course – that will be offered in the upcoming days in campus for the students. Students felt highly motivated and interacted with the speakers, asked several questions related to Product Development. Dr. Balaji M, Group Director – CCS & Head of Placecom felicitated the guests with mementos at the end of the session. Three best questions asked by students were also rewarded by the guests.
Dr Purnima Balachandran delivers talks on Mental Health
It is known that health is wealth. But Health is not just about what one eats, it’s about what one thinks and feels. Mental health is supremely important for everyone in these fast-paced days and Great Lakers are very well aware of this. The more the competition, the more focus lies towards destressing and rejuvenating oneself. Resilient Rajputs had one such thoughtful session on ‘Living healthy in a stressful time’ by Dr Purnima Balachandran, a practicing Gastroenterologist in the University of Illinois Medical School – Chicago. The session was hosted by Team Corporate Career Services & PlaceCom on June 27, 2019. Dr Purnima in her talk emphasized the importance of eating habits that aids to improve mental health. She shared her experience in the US and how mental health is being looked upon in USA as compared to here, in India. She further explained the difference between stress, anxiety and depression – how it is essential to fight them out, and also advised the Great Lakers in identifying and eliminating stress by taking one habit at a time. Her suggestions to destress included, exercise, yoga, taking more of plant-based diet, pursuing a hobby, and the most important of all having healthy conversations and relationships with friends and family. The session was followed by Q and A, and the students put forward their questions related to Stress and Health to Dr. Purnima. The students felt happy to have started the day on a positive note after the session.
Talk on ‘Personal leadership brand’
Ms. Smita Venkataraman, VP – HR & Corporate Communications, AGS Health, delivered a talk on ‘crafting your personal leadership brand’ on June 27 , 2019. Organized by Team CCS & PlaceCom, the talk highlighted that as future leaders, it is imperative for B School graduates to think differently and not be bogged down by mentality of masses. Ms. Smita also advised that being humble and kind is equally essential as being analytical in the quest of becoming a brand to whom others can look up to.
