Dr. Bala V. Balachandran
Bala Balachandran began his teaching career in 1960 while a graduate student at Annamalai University, India. In 1967 he moved to the University of Dayton and in 1971, to Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, where he taught management courses while working on his doctorate. In 1973 he joined the Kellogg Graduate School of Management faculty. From 1979 to 1983 he chaired the Department of Accounting and Information Systems; in 1984 he was appointed Distinguished Professor of Accounting and Information Systems and Decision Sciences. He was also Director of the Accounting Research Center until 2006.
Professor Balachandran's teaching interests include managerial accounting, auditing, management information systems, and mathematical programming. He is one of the three Kellogg faculty members who started the Information Resource Management Program (IRM) at Northwestern in 1974. He has authored more than 85 research articles and is currently writing a managerial accounting textbook with emphasis on cost management in an automated manufacturing environment. His other book under progress is on 'Leadership' focusing on the Indian Corporate Maharajahs.
Great Lakes is Prof. Bala's dream project of putting Chennai on the international management education map. He is a full time faculty member in the area of Accounting and Finance and chairs the Academic Advisory Council at Great Lakes since his retirement from Kellogg in 2008. He teaches Managerial Accounting and Strategic Cost and Profitability management for both the PGPM and PGXPM apart from offering cohort specific workshops on Mergers & Acquisitions, Valuation Techniques and Post Merger Integration. He is the recipient of the fourth highest civilian award of the Government of India the 'Padmashri' in 2001, awarded in recognition of his contribution towards higher education in India.
Prof. Bala also serves several Indian ministries in the advisory capacity and is currently involved with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in setting up of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. He also serves on the International Advisory Board of the UniRazak at Kuala Lumpur and renders consulting/advisory services to the top brass of the Malaysian Government. He also serves as the Executive Professor and Strategy Advisor to the Dean, at the Bauer College, University of Houston with special responsibility in conceptualizing and delivering Executive Education degree programs in India with special focus on the energy sector.
He also has the rare honor (for an Indian in America) of having an endowed chair professorship in his name. Several colleagues from Kellogg, including Donald P. Jacobs (Kellogg Dean Emeritus), Roger Nelson (retired Deputy Chairman for Ernst & Young), and Harry Kraemer Jr (former chairman and CEO of Baxter), have led a campaign to raise $1 million for an endowed professorship at Kellogg School of Management in Prof. Bala V. Balachandran's name in recognition of his invaluable and tireless service to the institute over the last three decades.

Prof. S. Sriram
S. Sriram is Executive Director of Great Lakes Institute of Management since its inception (2004). Prior to Great Lakes, has spent a decade and half in SP Jain Institute for Management as Chairperson, Executive MBA and Professor of Strategy. Prof. Sriram started his career as a Senior Consultant with Srikant Consultants Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. He teaches Business Policy & Strategy, Management Control Systems, Strategic Cost Management, Strategic Implementation, Strategic Management and Economies of Strategy. Has done extensive amount of consulting for Companies in India and abroad over the past 20 years in the areas of Strategy, Structure and Systems for leading corporates such as Mafatlals, Bajaj Group, IDBI, Marico, Jyoti Structures, Herdillia Chemicals, Bhor Industries, STP among others. He has done research on "The international competitiveness of the Indian industry" [sponsored by ASSOCHAM] and "Intellectual Property Rights and its impact on Pharmaceutical Industry" [study commissioned by Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India]. Prof. Sriram did his Masters in Marketing Management from NMIMS, Mumbai and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Madras University.
Dr. Venkat R. Krishnan
Professor (Organizational Behavior) and Director (Yale-Great Lakes Center for Management Research) at Great Lakes Institute of Management since 2006. Before joining Great Lakes, he was Professor (Organizational Behavior) at XLRI Jamshedpur. He has also taught at Temple University, Philadelphia, and has been a manager in State Bank of India. He does research on transformational leadership, value systems of individuals in organizations, and Indian philosophy and teaches core courses in Organizational Behavior, and elective courses on "Leadership, Influence, and Power," and "Upanishads and Transformational Leadership."
He is the editor of Great Lakes Herald and member of editorial advisory board of "Leadership & Organization Development Journal," "Journal of Human Values," and "Electronic Journal of Business Ethics and Organization Studies." He holds a Ph.D in Business Administration from Temple University, Philadelphia, and M.A. in Philosophy from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.
Prof. R. S. Veeravalli
R. S. Veeravalli is currently the Director - Executive Education, responsible for the Post Graduate Executive Program in Management (PGXPM), the Co-Director for the forthcoming Global Energy Executive MBA program (GEMBA) of the Bauer College of Business of the University of Houston, USA. He is also responsible for the design and delivery of all the Executive and Leadership Development Programs, consulting and research assignments to Corporate. He is an Associate Professor, and teaches "Negotiations & Bargaining" and "Entrepreneurship". He also heads the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Great Lakes. Prior to joining Great Lakes, he has spent about 25 years in Corporate in Senior & Top management positions - in Shipping, FMCG & Healthcare businesses and management consulting. He has worked with the Godrej group for more than half his career in Sales, Distribution, Product Supply, Quality and HR functions in senior management. He has taught Quality Management as a co-faculty in the IIT Bombay School of Management. He has a Masters in Sociology, and has done an accelerated Senior Management program (six months duration) with Cornell University, USA. He has been trained in JUSE Japan in TQM, a Certified Assessor of the CII-EXIM BANK BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARD model and done the Entrepreneurship Educators' Certificate program from Stanford University. He is registered for PhD in Management.
Prof. T. N. Swaminathan

Experience is a blend of in-depth urban, rural and International marketing, selling and distribution, turn around and heading SBUs. A Microbiologist turned MBA (IIM-Calcutta) with a cross functional experience arising out of a strong - R & D, Systems, Sales & Marketing and a Strategic thinking background in MNCs & Indian organizations of repute. Prior to moving in to Chennai in 2004, he was the CEO (Vice President & Business Head) of Tate & Lyle North America's
JV in India before moving on to the last assignment of International B2B Marketing with Tate & Lyle North America Continued till 2006 as a retainer to Tate & Lyle North America to advise of South & South East Asia.
Prof. Swaminathan has been teaching since 1992 - Marketing, Sales & Strategic Management courses & MDPs as Visiting / Guest Faculty at IIMC, IIMB, KC Institute of Management-Mumbai, IMT-Ghaziabad, IMI-Delhi, Fore school Delhi, IIPM Chennai, BIM Trichy, ITM-Chennai etc. He was Head, External Relations & Adjunct Professor at IFMR-Chennai before moving to Great Lakes as Director-External Relations & Professor of Marketing.

Dr. Tapan Panda
Tapan K Panda is currently Professor of Marketing and Director, Kotler-Srinivasan Center for Research in Marketing at Great Lakes. Prior to joining Great Lakes, he worked at Indian Institute of Management Indore as a Professor of Marketing. He also taught at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode and Lucknow as a fulltime faculty member. His main research interests are consumer based brand equity model, brand building in emerging markets, customer relationship management, role of information technology in building customer loyalty and strategies for emerging markets. He has published fifteen books in various areas of management and number of research articles in national and international journals. He teaches Customer Relationship Management, Marketing Strategy, Product and Brand Management and Rural marketing. Dr Panda holds a PhD in the area of Brand Personality as a Source of Competitive advantage and he has an MBA from Utkal University.
Prof. T. N. Seshan I A S (Retd.)
Tirunellai Narayana Iyer Seshan was the former Chief Election Commissioner of India, serving from December 12, 1990 to December 11, 1996. Seshan graduated from the prestigious Madras Christian College where he also served as lecturer. An officer of the Indian Administrative Service, he held the posts of Director - Ministry of Atomic Energy, Joint Secretary - Ministry of Space; Secretary - Department of Agriculture, Government of Tamil Nadu, Member (Personnel) - Oil & Natural Gas Commission, Additional Secretary - Ministry of Space, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Defence, and Secretary, Internal Security. Seshan went on to occupy the post of Cabinet Secretary - the senior most position in the Indian Civil Service hierarchy, and member, Planning Commission of India, before being appointed the Chief Election Commissioner. As the Chief Election Commissioner of India he made history by introducing innovative electoral reforms and making the Election Commission a powerful body. His name became synonymous with transparency, efficiency and progressive vision. He won the prestigious Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 1996. He teachers a course on Business & Society.
Dr. S. Bharadhwaj
S. Bharadhwaj is currently Professor of Marketing. Prior to joining Great Lakes, he worked at Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras and Nanyang Business School, Singapore. His main research interests are in the areas of variety seeking behavior, impulse buying behavior and the effect of other marketing variables and phenomena on these behaviors. His secondary research interests are in search behavior and integrated marketing communications. His work appears in leading journals like Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing Management and Advances in Consumer Research. He teaches Marketing Research and Consumer Behaviour. S. Bharadhwaj holds a PhD in Marketing from the Robert Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park, USA. He has an MBA from BIM, Trichy and a BSc in Chemistry from Vivekananda College, Chennai.
Dr. S. K. Shanthi
S. K. Shanthi is currently the Chair Professor, Union Bank Center for Banking Excellence at Great Lakes Institute of Management. She has a PhD in Economics from Institute for Financial Management and Research (Univ. of Madras affiliation), Chennai. She has more than 20 years of teaching /Research experience in the areas of micro, macro and managerial economics most of it at The Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), Chennai. She has written and published over 25 research reports and papers and newspaper articles in the broad areas of public finance and applied Finance, Economics and microfinance in national and international publications.
She has consulted extensively with the Government of Tamilnadu as a member of the 'Tamilnadu Growth Initiative - 2006', for the Tamilnadu State Planning Commission on the review of the HDI for the State and for the First State Finance Commission to recommend ways and means of revamping and augmenting the tax and non-tax revenues of Urban Local Bodies in Tamilnadu.
Prof. Easwar Krishna Iyer
Easwar Krishna Iyer is the Director of the Post Graduate Working Professional Program in Management (PGWPM) at Great Lakes Institute of Management. After successfully launching the program in Chennai in 2010, he is currently overseeing the launch of two programs - PGWPM and its energy focused variant PGWPM (Energy) in Great Lakes' New Delhi campus. An Associate Professor in Marketing he also is the Admissions Director for Great Lakes for all programs. Prior to Great Lakes, he was Associate Professor at ASB and Vice Chair of the EMBA program jointly run by ASB and State University of New York, Buffalo. Prior to that, he has extensive research background in technology area with several international publications in journals as varied as Electronics Letters, Microwave & Optical Technology Letters and Applied Superconductivity. Courses currently handled are Strategic Marketing, Strategic Outsourcing, Markstrat Simulation & Marketing Management.

Prof. Sanjoy Sircar
Sanjoy Sircar started his professional career as a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Assurance and Advisory. While pursuing his doctoral studies in the US, he entered the world of academia and was a faculty in the finance area at the Fox School of Management, Temple University, Philadelphia and Rutgers, State University of New Jersey. His course offerings include Corporate Finance, Strategic Financial Management, Options Futures and Risk Management, International Corporate Finance and Financial Analytics. He had been associated with SP Jain Institute of Management and Research at their Mumbai, Dubai and Singapore campuses and with Management Development Institute, Gurgaon and School of Business Management, NMIMS deemed to be University as full time faculty in the finance area. Prof. Sircar has, in his last assignment, served as the Dean, School of Commerce, NMIMS University as well as members of the Admissions and Placement Committees of the School of Business Management, NMIMS .He has authored technical notes at SPJIMR on Portfolio Management and Risk Reduction, Capital Asset Pricing, Leverage and Cost of Equity. He had been a regular presenter at the Washington DC Symposium on Schools of Business Annual Conferences.

Dr. T. N. Badri
Badri is Associate Professor in the area of Operations/Quantitative Techniques at Great Lakes Institute of Management. Prior to this, he has been with T. A. Pai Management Institute, teaching courses in Quantitative Techniques, Decision Analysis, Operations Research, Statistics and Computer Simulation. During his tenure at Bangalore, he has been taking sessions and conducting workshops to the executives of companies such as HP and Oracle on "Management of Service Operations" and "Statistical Techniques for Managers". Previously, in the United States, he has been a Teaching Assistant for the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and also for the Department of Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and at Clemson University, during the period 1989 to 2002. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from St Stephen's College, Delhi in 1987 and subsequently studied at the Indian Institute of Technology, Powai. He completed his M.S. in Mathematical Sciences from Clemson University, South Carolina, USA in 1992. His PhD in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research is from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA.

He brings with him over three decades of rich Industrial and commercial finance experience, from leading Indian and global corporates/Banks.
